Dedication – 54 years on the job.

Elwyn Watts has been a staple at Edwards / Petrie Ford for over 54 years.

…and after a long, successful career, Elwyn has decided to retire this year.  We’ll miss him dearly.

We have the original ‘new hire’ file folder from 1963 – the year Elwyn stared at Petrie Ford (then called Edwards Ford).    The dealership then was located downtown on Princess St.  It wasn’t until 1967 that Edwards Ford traded properties with the Pontiac dealership and moved to its current location at 1388 Bath Road (at the corner of Bath and Centennial). Much of Bath Road was dirt road at the time, and the west end was just starting to be developed.

Elwyn’s starting title – in 1963 –  was “stock clerk” according to his ‘new hire’ file.  That position evolved along with his vast knowledge of auto parts over the years.  Since those early day’s he’s long held the position of “Wholesale Parts Specialist” having catered to our business-to-business clients for decades.

He’s become a bit of a local legend in the automotive community. He’s well known and trusted as being a true expert on all things relating to automotive parts!

It’s safe to say that not many people work for over 54 years.  It’s an achievement the likes of which the current and next generation of workers will probably never see.  After such a long tenure, his retirement announcement is certainly bitter-sweet.  It’s well deserved time off, but he’ll certainly leave a hole in our Petrie Ford hearts!

All the best Elwyn. Good luck in your new chapter in life!

The Ford Flex Offers Owners Plenty of Choices

Considered a CUV, a crossover utility vehicle, the Ford Flex first hit the market in 2007 as Ford’s family vehicle alternative to the minivan. While the Flex has undergone a series of iterations through the years, prospective and current owners can delight in abundant choices in model, design and comfort features.

3 Models

The 2018 Ford Flex is offered in three models: SE, SEL and Limited. Across the board, the Flex offers seating for seven people and estimated miles per gallon of 16 in the city and 23 on the highway. The starting price tag is lowest for the SE model and highest for the Limited model. Accordingly, Ford offers an enhanced feature set for the Limited model, which can include active park assist, HID headlamps, interior ambient lighting and a 12-speaker Sony audio system.

Design Details

According to Ford, style is Flex’s dominant theme. The manufacturer highlights the vehicle’s interior wood finishes and seven colors of ambient lighting for owners to choose from. Ford’s Appearance Package and wheel choice lets owners build their Flex’s exterior to best suit their personal style. The standard and available wheels range from 17-inch painted aluminum to 20-inch high-gloss black-painted choices.

Comfort Features

While the 2018 Ford Flex provides standard seating for seven passengers, it also offers the one-touch PowerFold and third-row tumble seat in the Limited model. When not in use, the two-passenger seat can be folded to the floor for extra cargo space. Both the SEL and Limited models feature a dual-zone automatic temperature control, which allows the driver and front-seat passenger to choose their own comfort setting. The Limited model also features a heating steering wheel.

The 2018 Ford Flex offers you abundant choices in model, design and comfort features—and even more choices in style, technology and convenience. When searching for the model that fits you best, review the manufacturer’s website for specification details or contact the Petrie Ford team with your questions about the Ford Flex.
